Run Assembly Reports

aP Pro provides specific functionality and specific reports for assemblies, allowing you to efficiently create spreadsheet reports for all components in an assembly or rollup, creating either single or multiple spreadsheet reports.

Also see Spreadsheet Reports for more details.

Tip: See the Apply Spreadsheet Reports in aP Pro aP Academy training course for more general information.

Use Spreadsheet Reports with Assemblies and Rollups

You can create reports for the assembly or rollup itself, and all sub-components, greatly reducing the time and effort required to generate these reports individually.

To run these reports:

  1. Select Reports > Spreadsheet Reports from the top toolbar:

  2. In the Spreadsheet Reports dialog, select the report to create:

Also click the Reports for Subcomponents checkbox if you want to create reports for the subcomponents

    • Part Report and PCB Part Report: When these check boxes are selected, aPriori creates a part-level report for all single parts that are direct children of the top-level assembly or rollup. The drop-down menu next to each check box allows you to select the desired type of report to generate.
    • Assembly Report: When this check box is selected, aPriori creates a report for each subassembly that is a direct child of the top-level assembly or rollup . The adjacent drop-down menu is used to specify the desired type of report.

    • Rollup Report: When this check box is selected, aPriori creates a report for each rollup that is a direct child of the top-level rollup.

  3. Next to the Assembly Report and Rollup Report fields, there is a Deep check box option. When this is selected, aPriori also creates the selected reports for any lower-level components found within either sub-assemblies or sub-rollups, respectively.

  4. Click OK to generate the reports.
  5. When all requested reports are generated, aPriori displays a confirmation dialog with an option to view the folder where the reports were saved:

Useful Reports

You can run these useful Spreadsheet Reports for assemblies, to help you review analysis results:

Assembly Summary Report

This report can be run for any fully costed assembly in aPriori, to show a top-level cost breakdown for the assembly and its subcomponents.

Select Assembly Summary Report :

You can then view the report:

Copy Welds Analysis Report

This report shows the success of a Copy Welds From operation (see Add Virtual Welds). The report displays the status of each of the copied welds, indicating whether the copy has been successfully completed, or if the geometry differences between the assemblies has caused any welds to fail.

This report is automatically generated when you run a Copy Welds From operation.

To also generate it manually, selecting the Copy Welds Analysis Report from the list of spreadsheet reports.

You can then view the report:

  • As with other reports, the data of most interest is found on the first tab Weld Diagnosis.

  • The other tabs contain raw data that is used to compile the diagnosis tab. Imported virtual welds retain the same weld IDs that they had in the source assembly.

  • Any existing virtual welds in the destination assembly are discarded.

  • Any CAD-defined (non-virtual) welds have IDs that start after the imported IDs so that they appear at the end of the weld list.

Cost Comparison Report

You can export a comparison view as a report, comparing costs for multiple assemblies or scenarios.

Tip: See Compare Scenarios for details of creating a comparison view.

To view this report:

  1. Compare the assemblies or scenario, as described in Compare Scenarios, creating a comparison view:

  2. Export this to Excel by opening the relevant comparison report in aPriori and then selecting the Cost Comparison Report from the Spreadsheet report list:

  3. You can then view this report in Excel:
